What Inspires A Fashion Designer?

By definition, a dedicated fashion designer is a highly prolific worker. To compete in a fast-paced industry, designers who want to make it big must constantly retain ideas from the world's sense of taste, stay current with the times, and make, make, make new designs until the end of time. So, where do designers get such consistent incentive requests to make, you might wonder? We were thinking the same thing, therefore we looked into the many causes that move fashion's most seductive garments. Here are a few sources of inspiration we discovered, and who knows for sure? If you're a fashion student or aspiring designer, they might be able to inspire you as well...

Visual stimulation. While there are endless sources of potential inspiration, fashion designers that work in the visual realm are usually inspired by something they've seen. Visual possibilities are virtually endless. Maybe it's a picture you've recently taken or viewed. Perhaps it was an accident in your studio that turned out to be better than you expected. Perhaps it's a film you recently saw, a meal you recently ate, or a particularly beautiful tree you passed by in the recreation area. Previously, well-known designers would model their creations after certain people. They've created clothes for their sweethearts, friends, family, and many fantasies. Perhaps the most evocative type of visual motivation is a relationship with another person.

Inspiration in action. Applied motivation is almost identical to the absence of a visual incentive. As a result, by looking at something, you may realize that you need to build what you don't see. Perhaps you've noticed a need for something to which you believe you can offer. Perhaps you're at the beach one day and see that there's a demand for a specific type of beach handbag that no one has. Perhaps you're at a runway show and realize that another designer's collection is woefully lacking in terms of a certain component that you can manufacture. Calculated motivation, like visual motivation, has an infinite number of possibilities.

By cultivating a sharp eye and actually observing and loving all of the random excellence that the world offers us, everyone can create their own possibilities for motivation.
